TAM Staff![]() President: Lih-Sheng (Tom) Turng
Professor Turng is currently a Professor and Co-Director of Polymer Engineering Center at the Department of Mechanical Engineering, University of Wisconsin-Madison. Turng received his M.S. and Ph.D. degrees from Cornell University, in 1997 and 2000, respectively. He worked in industry for 10 years before joining University of Wisconsin_Madison in 2000. Turng is a Fellow of the Society of Plastics Engineers (SPE) and the American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME), the past Chair and a member of the Board of Directors of the SPE Injection Molding Division. He has organized many symposia and technical programs and serves on the editorial boards and as an Associate Editor for a number of journals. Turng's research includes injection molding, microcellular injection molding, nanocomposites, biopolymers, computer-aided engineering (CAE), and various innovative molding processes and materials. He has received numerous grants and awards supporting his work. He is presently leading a team at the Wisconsin Institute for Discovery (WID) at University of Wisconsin-Madison to develop novel tissue engineering scaffolds that restore, maintain, or improve the function of diseased or damaged human tissues.
